Yuri Savelyevich Matyushko lived and worked in the city of Kostanay. He is a graduate of the Ural College of Applied Arts in Nizhny Tagil, where he studied in the specialty "Decorative design". After graduating from college in 1973, the artist began working in the art production workshops of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan in Kostanay.
Yuri Matyushko was an artist of a rare type — sincere, internally free and original. He did not seek fame or recognition, he wrote not for the sake of exhibitions, but out of an inner need to create. His works are distinguished by the depth of images, the multilayered composition and the philosophical perception of the world. The artist's style can be defined as abstract and expressive. His graphic sheets are filled with lines and spots of color, giving rise to multifaceted images and associative forms. Each work by Yuri Matyushko is a special space where line turns into thought and color into feeling. His works seem to reveal the artist's inner dialogue with the world, filled with symbols, metaphors and personal experiences.
